This post is the fourth and last in a series of four, where I reflect on how I have worked with my professional development during the last 15 years:
No strategy or plan is static. So how do you follow up on a short term and long term basis?
I have found it useful to have a personal wiki, where I
write down my vision(s)
keep track of my lists of "someday maybe" things (books to read, things to learn, courses to take, ...)
keep track of progress on the things, I do right now
keep the current version of my strategy
Since 2009, I have used a free account at wikidot.com, I'm sure that there are other options available today. Pick a format, which suits your needs.
I update my wiki with the following frequencies:
my vision(s) is rarely changed (typically years between changes)
I add to my lists of "someday maybe" things whenever I find interesting things to explore
on things, I do right now, I update daily or weekly
I update my strategy for the current semester, whenever I finish a goal.
I typically update my strategy for the next semester(s) twice a year
Thats it. Feel free to copy and/or adapt to your own needs.
